Position Overview: Lecturer in Writing and Critical Inquiry
The University at Albany invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in the Program in Writing and Critical Inquiry. The successful candidate will teach primarily international sections and English Language Learners (ELLs), with a focus on inclusive and equitable pedagogical practices. This position begins in Fall 2025.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach seven courses per year (in-person) with potential course release for professional development activities.
- Facilitate the Seminar in Writing and Critical Inquiry (WCI), a foundational general education course emphasizing critical inquiry and writing in academic contexts.
- Incorporate strategies that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in teaching.
- Attend faculty meetings and hold weekly office hours.
- Opportunity to teach in multi-modal formats based on student needs.

Minimum Qualifications
- Degree Requirements:
- Ph.D. or terminal degree by August 31, 2025, OR
- Master’s degree with three years of teaching experience in composition or writing studies.
- Certifications: TESOL or TOEFL certification.
- Skills: Fluency in Spanish.
- Experience:
- Teaching college-level writing.
- Working with a culturally diverse student body and/or first-generation college students.
- Engagement with diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience:
- Three or more years teaching college-level writing in first-year writing programs.
- Involvement in academic service or community engagement projects.
